Jira workflow / planning poker

Bring Jira work into the room. Leave with a decision.

Import the issues your team needs to size, estimate together without anchoring, and write the accepted story point value back to Jira.

Try a planning room for free. Jira import and sync are included with Professional.

One connected handoff

The ceremony lives between the ticket and the next status.

Jira remains the source of truth. ScrumDeck gives the team a better place to make the decision that Jira needs.

01

Bring in the work

Search and import Jira issues into a planning session so the team estimates the real backlog item, with its context intact.

02

Reveal the room’s thinking

Collect private votes before discussion, reveal together, and use the spread to find uncertainty worth talking through.

03

Put the decision back

Write the accepted value to the configured Jira story points field. If you choose, transition the issue after the sync.

Make the spread useful

A vote is not the decision. It is where the useful conversation starts.

Private estimates show where the room sees the work differently. Reveal together, talk through the outliers, and capture the estimate the team can actually plan around.

  • Everyone estimates before the room anchors
  • Discussion follows the uncertainty, not the loudest voice
  • The accepted value is ready for the Jira handoff

Close the loop

Your accepted estimate belongs back in Jira.

End planning where the work already lives. ScrumDeck can update the configured story points field and, when enabled for the project, apply the next available workflow transition.

Field-awareUse the story points field that fits your Jira instance.
Project-awareSet sync and transition behavior per project.
Optional transitionMove an issue only when your workflow calls for it.

Built for the real backlog

Less meeting admin. More shared understanding.

Everything here supports the same job: helping a team turn a Jira issue into an estimate they can stand behind.

Import Jira issues

Start with backlog items from your projects instead of recreating ticket context in a separate meeting tool.

Private voting, shared reveal

Give every participant room to estimate independently before the conversation starts.

Story point field sync

Write the agreed estimate to the story points custom field your Jira project is configured to use.

Optional issue transitions

Choose a project transition to apply after a successful point update when the workflow supports it.

Shared-room participation

Invite the team with a room link and keep the facilitator focused on the decision, not account setup.

Project-aware settings

Configure fields, transitions, and sync behavior per Jira project when one workspace has different rules.

Questions, answered plainly

What Jira teams should know.

Which plan includes the Jira integration?

Jira ticket import, story point field sync, and optional issue transitions are included with Professional. You can try a standalone planning room for free before choosing a Jira-connected plan.

How does the Jira connection work?

Connect your Jira instance from ScrumDeck settings with your Jira URL, email, and API token. ScrumDeck checks the connection, finds accessible projects, and lets you configure the fields and transitions used by your planning workflow.

Does ScrumDeck need a Jira Marketplace or Forge app?

No. This workflow connects directly from ScrumDeck to your Jira instance; a Jira Marketplace or Forge app is not required.

Can ScrumDeck sync story points back to Jira?

Yes. After the team accepts an estimate, ScrumDeck updates the configured numeric story points field on the Jira issue. The field can be selected for your Jira setup or per project.

Can it transition an issue after estimation?

Yes, when you configure a project transition and that transition is available for the issue. Transitioning is optional; the story point update remains the core sync action.

Can we use ScrumDeck without Jira?

Yes. ScrumDeck also works as a standalone planning poker room, with additional retrospective and team ceremony workflows for teams that do not need a Jira connection for every session.

Ready for the next ticket?
